I had the pleasure of recording a podcast for a US tech company VMWare recently. The series is called ‘Don’t Break the Bank’. This is the introduction to the podcast by the interviewer Matthew O’Neill, and the recording follows….
‘This is the one where Brian and I got to talk with Tony Boobier, Consultant, Mentor, Author and Advisor on AI and Financial Services.
Tony is a global technology executive with over 40 years of international experience focussing on data, analytics and AI for the Financial Sector. He is the author of 4 books: ‘Analytics for Insurance’, ‘Advanced Analytics and AI: Impact, Implementation and the Future of Work’, ‘AI and the Future of Banking’ and ‘AI and the Future of the Public Sector’ – he’s working on a 5th.
Tony travels extensively and is often found in boardrooms advising on the role of AI in Financial Services. As you can imagine, he’s very busy right now and it took us a long time to get into his calendar.
We got a lot from the conversation and quickly got controversial on the current state of AI including the role of Generative AI. Is it AI, analytics, or just fluff – it’s worth the listen to get Tony’s take on the current state of AI, away from mainstream media, and back to reality.
We found this to be a very informative and topical conversation, and without spoiling the ending, Tony‘s last question in the #LightningRound “What piece of career advice would you give to your younger self?” gave me goosebumps.
No more spoilers – please take a listen and let us know what you think.
