I’m just back from a session with Jesse McGrane at AQR, who are a media company under contract to LinkedIn Learning. Jesse had identified me in the AI space and had asked me to pitch a couple of ideas to LI, who choose ‘AI and the Future of the Public Sector’as the one that they wanted to run with.
Fine by me, especially as it gave some scope for book promotion. The task was to create a series of short scripts of no longer than 900 words each, which represented each chapter of my Public Sector book. That in itself was quite a challenge.
Then, to sit in front of an autocue and to read out each script. Which we did in Woolwich. Jesse was very accommodating and very professional. The sad thing, at least for me, was that I needed to wear my glasses to read the text. I suppose this equates to a ‘new me’ on the screen. Age hurts.
We worked our way through 16 mini scripts, re-recording where needed. It’s funny how the mind improves the text, and sometimes distorts it, in real time. I think – but I’m not sure – that it was an enjoyable experience.
So now its over to the editors, add some graphics and supplementary exercises, and see if LI are willing to go to contract. With luck, we might be done by Christmas.
I suppose its quite fun, at this late stage of my career, to do stuff which is completely different. But I’m not expecting a BAFTA, well,at least not yet !
